PROM AND TEENS

Being a single parent is especially hard at prom time. When my daughter graduated , there was a dress , transportation issues ( we didn't have a car) , flowers , restaurant  bill , and more. Guess what ? No money . A very special person payed for some of this . The dress we got was from a church 'prom program'. They had a special closet with dresses , and we picked one for free !   Following is a link to more programs like the one that helped us. Thank you for yet another GREAT link Elaine from TSA ! ! ! ( PS They have tuxedos too.)

REDUX PROM ATTIRE

IN GENERAL :

Try Craigslist , a great source for all kinds of needs , wants , dreams and desires . Hint: find a listing in your area , then click on "free" listed under "For Sale"

http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites.html

Also try    http://www.freecycle.org/ , an organization that I am personally familiar with . Freecycle people share more than clothes . Yes they do share clothing , but in my group , also formula , baby food , food in general , furniture, books , dishes , cameras , computer accessories , and so so much more ! Check it out !

This is a wonderful family that provides clothing items for young people in Michigan. If you are blessed to live near them , you will want to contact them . More information :

Hello Again, Soulight;

Just popped in to say thanks for your kind and encouraging words.  I really do appreciate them -- they're a bright spot in what has been a difficult day.  I appreciate your thoughts and prayers, too, and you will also be in mine.

I'm glad that we have been able to meet and become acquainted so that we can share each other's cares and concerns, and help each other to stand  -- when one is weak and the other is stronger, it is always good to take turns supporting each other.  I'm grateful that you have offered to hold me up in prayer, and I will do the same for you also.

I went and paid my rent and tithe today, and a couple of small bills, and became fairly broke, just that quickly!  Sometimes (after being disabled for 23 years! LOL! ) it's hard not to become depressed by living on something that's clearly meant to keep someone in the poor house!

I hope that today was a good day for you, filled with love and joy, and special blessings from our Heavenly Father.  I hope also that you are feeling well, and that you and your loved ones are content and happy.

Anyway, thanks so much for being there to talk to, and for your kind words of encouragement and your prayers;  it is so special and appreciated.

I hope to be able to talk with you again soon.  Blessings, nini3

Hey again, soulight:

Thanks to  you, too!

And you're right -- there really are so many really good, nonest and caring people here on aidpage!  Sometimes, I just like getting lost in reading the various conversations and posts of information, seeing how much people still do care these days.  It's been such a time of turnoil in the world, and in this country for years now, that we often want to give up on finding anyone that really cares about the next human being any more.  Aidpage has truly restored my faith in humanity, I gotta tell you!

I had been ready to give up on finding anyone who really cared about people any more.  We had all been hearing and reading about people robbingand killing and hating each other, benefits being cut, rich getting richer, and on and on and on, ad nauseum...... it was just really difficult for me in the position that I'd been in for so  long, to believe in any good people out there any more!

I'm really glad that I found this site, not just because there is a ton of very helpful information that I or anyone else in need of hep of some sort can use, but because I can come and share thoughts, feelings, and information with other humans who still do care, such as yourself.  I think I mentioned in my last message that I had been observing your other conversations and posts, and that I consider you one of the really good ones here, too.  I'm really happy to have made your acquaintance, and I just want to say thank you for the response to my mesage.  I have just received some really shocking and painful news, and I appreciate that I can sit here and type you a message, think of how kind you are, and forget my pain for a few minutes.

Thanks again for being here.  You are a big plus to aidpage, and once again, I'm glad to have met you.

Blessings, nini3

I just recently started a foundation for high school seniors in Illinois.  The Ganier Foundation Designs Prom gowns for disadvantaged teens that have made significant progress despite their financial challenges and have exhibited leadership skills in their community or high school.  We work directly with the highschools to coordinate programs.  We are currently seeking donations to be able to help more girls. Our website is www.ganierdesigns.com/ganier foundation.

Best Regards,
